kmweaver (1973), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Oct 24, 2006 2004 bottle, 6.3oz, wax-less, courtesy of HogTownHarry. Huge thanks for this one! Pours a dark, dark reddish amber core; headless. Very little carbonation. Seems like a boozy, raspberry fruit roll-up; complex, aged, alcoholic raspberries. Alcohol is well-hidden in the mouthfeel; overripe raspberries, a toasty leathery quality, raisins, almost a vanilla oakiness; something aged patiently, paradigm-shifting. I’m getting literary. I don’t even know what I’m drinking here: maybe a beautiful, liquified fruit roll-up; maybe a distilled, oak-aged raspberry liquor, picked at the tail-end of the season. Long, port-like finish; caramel and fruit; a challenging beer. Cheers, Harry!
matt7215 (552), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Aug 26, 2008 2007 vintage bottle from linus_stick. pours dark brown with no head. aromas of raspberry, chocolate, tootsie roll. flavours are similar but this comes together in liquid form far better then one could imagine. it is the best beverage ive had that in know way reminds me of conventional beer. if i were the brewer of his concoction id bottle it in 750ml bottles and sell it as a liquer for $100 a bottle. that being stated its one of the best beers ive ever had and im truely mad it comes in the 167 ml format. give me 750’s of this and ill be happy. till then im content. thx linus you made me content on this evening. undsioux7 (478), Cologne, Minnesota, USA Aug 25, 2008 2004 bottle. Pours very dark brown with a small head. Aroma of chocolate, raspberry and something I can’t put my finger on. Taste is the same with some oak, vanilla, alchohol and caramel. Very, very smooth. Could only handle a little bit though. Thanks Grim!!!! grimreeser (678), Minnesota, USA Aug 25, 2008 Updated: Aug 26, 2008From illinismitty. Pours a dark dark brown with a small head. Big complex aroma, chocolate, raspberry. Very sweet flavor. Thanks Sean! TheCheeseMan (509), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA Aug 24, 2008 Courtesy JMFG. The aroma of this gem is stunning, almost beyond comprehension. Chocolate, raspberry, malted milk and nougat all add to the mastery. The flavor is almost overwhelming. The chocolate and raspberry is strong. Stunning. nhorween (505), New York, New York, USA Aug 13, 2008 thanks cmubeerman, 04 bottle. Aroma of chocolate, raspberries, and dark fruit. Amazingly interesting and outrageously smooth. Flavor is dominated by raspberry, chocolate, and rounded toasty malt. Some alcohol, cherry, and fruit in the finish. Inspired.
