Commercial Description:
Kulmbacher Edelherb is pale and dry. Its special taste is thanks to the soft brewing water from pristine, crystal-clear springs of the Fichtelgebirge, the noblest malting barley from regional farmlands, handpicked hops from the Hallertau, and our legendary brewing skills.

Looks like a bland lager, canonical scummy head. Soft dry malty aroma, a touch bland and lagery. However, it’s got a bigger taste than your average lager. It actually tastes like it is made of beer ingredients. Soft sweet maltiness, hints of a range of esters, and a pleasant bittering hop. Carbonation is healthy, and matches the softness of the body well. A touch crisper, and this would be an exceptional lager. Non-filtered would be great too.

500 ml bottle. Finland. (HHOK). Clear golden colour with big white head. I was very surprised when I found milk chocolate aroma on a German Pilsener. Also a bit metallic and hoppy aroma. A bit harsh hoppy flavour with some metallic notes. Quite regular German Pils.

Bottle Courtesy of Retorp. Pours a crystal clear golden color with a massive pillowy white head. Gentle settling of the head but decent retention and some graceful lacing of the glass. Aroma is slightly grassy with notes of spice, hay, bread, yeast, slight floral notes. Flavor is watery with notes of grass, wheat, bread and hops. None of the flavors are particularly strong. Light bodied with a quick finish.

Bottled. Very pale golden with a medium, firm and lacy head. Buttery-grainy-malty nose with herby-aromatic hops and hints of metal. Dryish, slightly acidic flavor with herby hops and a reasonable body for the style. Quite light-bodied, but not watery with quite high, slightly fizzy carbonation. A decent pils, although slightly too harsh and carbonated.

500 ml bottle. Golden color, frothy white head. Malty aroma with a touch of sulphur. Medium bitterness with plenty of bready malts. Medium-light body, high carbonation. A solid pils, but not remarkable.

Pours a hazy yellow gold with a great white head. Aroma is grass, hay, straw, and hops. Flavor is crisp malt, bread, and hop bite with a dry finish. Bitterness lingers.

Tons of hay together with some nice base malt and spicy lemon hops note. Crystal clear gold under a contiguous white flanel blanket that is very lacy. Unimpressive and standard German Pils flavour: some sweet base malt with lots of bitter hops and only a smidgeon of hops flavour. Some ethanol. Sort of tangy feel, with moderate carbonation, light to medium body, slightly bitter finish.

11.2 ounce bottle. Pours a clear pale yellow color with a large head, nice retention and lacing. Grassy aroma with some grainy notes. Grainy and slightly fruity taste with a touch of a bitter finish. Medium bodied.
