TheCaptain (526), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 22, 2008 Bottle - Dark reddish brown pour with small simmering head. Liquor like malt quality with dark fruits and slight sweetness that slithers into the pallet. Has a fine aged quality that creeps in when it warms up. Smooth with some tasty roasted bitterness towards the end. Another one that I will have again soon. DuffMan (2719), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada Jul 18, 2008 Deep, dark mahogany. Sweet brown sugar and boozy sherry aroma. As this warmed up, a definite pruney aroma became apparent as well. Sweet and generously malty, molasses and bread crusts and stewed fruits, with a boozy warming finish. Better at higher temperatures-- much more restrained when chilled. tarc (47), New Jersey, USA Jul 16, 2008 Bottle: A slightly sweet malty aroma not over powering. It poured a clean, clear medium brown wth a minimal head. The taste was superior, good malt character, but not overpowering not too sweet with a smooth finish. It’s a good thing I didn’t buy more or they may have all been gone in one sitting. "I’’ll be bock..." DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Jul 16, 2008 Updated: Sep 13, 2008Bottle. Best before 1/27/09. Very dark brown color with a big beige head. Aroma has lots of malt, some caramel, light roastiness, some subdued chocolate notes, hints of fruits and alcohol. The sweet flavor is bursting with malt and has caramel, some bread and light roasted notes. A good thick body. Really good, I wish I’d tried this one on some cold January night and not on a sweaty middle-eastern July night. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Jul 14, 2008 had fresh and a 2/12 year aged... wow, what a beer, fresh: it hides the alcohol wonderfully, aged: like a fine sherry ... a very srinable beer that glides down the throat ... lots of plum, belgian berry, some alco spice, berries, the aged has the same with some oak ..... an absolute wonderful brew... got from LS and the aged from biggreen at the july08 Htown tasting... ruggedman (613), Portland, Maine, USA Jul 14, 2008 My fist Eisbock on tap at Novare Res in Portland. Yummy...this stuff is potent, but hides it’s alcohol well under it’s thick malt profile. The toffee malt flavor dominates this brew, mouthfeel is awesome nice and smooth. I think i’ll have to seek out more Eisbocks in the future. LooseCannon (914), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Jul 10, 2008 11.2oz bottle. Pours reddish copper in color with brown head. Aroma malt, caramel and molasses. Taste of toffee, caramel and sweet malt with dry finish. alexanderj (2213), Chino Hills, California, USA Jul 8, 2008 Bottle; sadly this is only my second for the style. Color was a good looking dark auburn with a smallish head. Aroma of caramel coverd raisins and sugary nuts, with a hint of alcohol. Alcohol was well hidden. After taste was very minimal and the flavor was very smooth overall. Similar flavor elements as the aroma. Good stuff.
