ekstedt (2411), Göteborg, Sweden Jun 15, 2008 Bottle (33 cl) from Ambrosetti beer store, Berlin. Dark opaque brown, mediu beig head. Nutty and caramelly malt aroma, quite alcoholic. Thick body and soft carbonation. Surprisingly dry, with moderate bitterness. Would be very good if it were less alcoholic. gnoff (3559), Göteborg, Sweden Jun 15, 2008 Updated: May 10, 2009First rating (33 cl bottle purchased at Ambrosetti in Berlin by ekstedt) On June 14, 2008 Clear dark brown color, tan head. Rerate Bottle from Systembolaget On February 27, 2009 Very nice, much nicer that I remembered it. Will try and pick up a few more bottles for sure before it’s sold out. Pure candy in the bottle! 8/3/8/4/16=3.9
rerate Bottle at a blind tasting at Bredaryds Wärdshus, late April 2009 Clear dark reddish brown color, tan head. Fat alcohol, chocolate scent. Sweet, metallic, malty taste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness. 6/4/6/3/12=3.1 Dedollewaitor (3622), Odense, Denmark Jun 14, 2008 Bottle from BarleyWine, Copenhagen. Pours brown with a creamu white head. Aroma & taste is dark fruits, bread, rye-bread, sugar, caramel, alcohol. Very sweet & sirupy. Smooth, sticky, soft & filling palate. Warmth... Nice! esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jun 11, 2008 Mahogany with a large medium tan head that slowly diminishes and leaves a trail of lace on the glass as it goes. Aroma of brown sugar, nuts, toffee, bread alcohol and mild fruit. Strong taste of sweet malts, alcohol, fruit, light nuts and caramel. Finishes with an alcohol burn so it obviously doesn’t hide the alcohol too well. My first eisbock – while it won’t be my last I’m not real anxious to try the next one. doubleo (1096), San Diego, California, USA Jun 8, 2008 Get this... Bottle marked July 11, 1996, Bottle #20937. Kulmbacher Reichelbrau Eisbock. Awesome! Many thanks to brewandbbq for this ancient treat! Pours dark brown with a very little, fizzy head. Smells sweet and malty, only a very tiny hint of oxidation. Tastes awesome. Dark and malty and caramelly sweet, somewhat roasty. Thick body, even with the lack of a significant head the carbonation is surprisingly good. trevor211 (499), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 8, 2008 Pours a dark ruby amber with a thick, though quickly dissipating head. Rich malts and molasses, as well as dark fruits. Thick - this is a big brew. Flavor isn’t far from a good barley wine - it has the strength, for sure. The dark malts (with a little smoke) are perfectly offset by a great bitterness, and while it’s sticky, it does have a wonderful flavor. Far better than you’d guess from the label. masonjer (555), Holt, Michigan, USA Jun 4, 2008 Poured a dark brown. big dark fruits overall, quite sweet. Really smooth and rich. Couldn’t quite get into this one. Just didn’t do it for me. Sometimes you can judge a book by its cover. BeerGestapo (725), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA May 31, 2008 Updated: Jun 7, 2008(GERMAN) The color is a dark brown almost black with a fizzy sm-white head. The aroma is a combo of molasses, caramel and prunes. The taste is of dark fruits, alcohol, and licorice. And the mouthfeel is extremely smooth and creamy !!! This was a pleasant suprise and i would drink it again.
