Aroma is sweet malt with light alcohol and raisin present as well. Taste is malty, alcohol, what I believed to be light barley in the finish. Medium-thick mouthfeel with a long finish. A little heavy on the alcohol, but very nice overall. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA

Thick brown in color with okay head. Smells like burning caramel and alcohol. Sweet alcohol malt flavor. Feels like much more than 9.2%. Just heavy and thick and too much booze but I liked the woodsy caramel tones in the flavor quite a bit. If it had a little less present alcohol - I would have enjoyed it much more.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 10, 2008 Pours a very dark garnet color with some clarity and a moderately full, beige, creamy head which settles quickly to a small frothy layer leaving some nice lace. Nose is rich but faint for an eisbock; toasted caramels, chocolate, light notes of date, and some light roasted almond notes. Flavor is big and rich like it should be with rich toffee, toasted caramel, light molasses notes, dates, roasted almonds, and some hints at chicory. Palate is nearly full, almost lively, and somewhat viscous but still somewhat crisp. Finishes quickly with lingering toasted caramels and roasted almonds and only the slightest warmth. Bitterness is almost non-existant but never becomes cloyingly sweet. Not as big or sweet as I was expecting but quite drinkable and certainly pleasant. Lots of rich notes but still the crispness of a lager. marcus (1853), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 10, 2008 This dark brown beer poured with a decent tan head and a sweet malty aroma. There is a nut brown malt flavor and a carbonated mouthfeel. The finish is bittersweet chocolate with a slight amount of alcohol heat. Overall, a very nice brew. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 9, 2008 (thx 2 Rick) Super dark ruby red/ chocolate brown color, almost looking black. Offwhite head. Suprisingly rich for a German beer which are usually not very creative. Not really spice, but does have similarities to some good belguim beers. Fruity, slightly sweet, more bitter sweet. Feels like a good syrub but with a bite. Very malty, and overall a very nice beer. dutch23mp (161), Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA
