Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Dec 23, 2007 From a bottle--Poured a deep chestnut-brown body with a medium-sized fluffy beige head and magnificent lacing. Sweet malty nose with notes of roasted dark fruits. Brown sugar and molasses flavors, slightly cream vanilla in the finish. Very very smooth considering ABV. Becker (14), Bayern, Germany Dec 18, 2007 Draft - beautiful deep ruby color with a nice tan head. Fruity aroma. Flavor was also of dark fruits, yet malty. Sweet, but not overly. A very nice beer Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Dec 16, 2007 I made the mistake to drink this one too cold, but luckily I forgot some in my glass.... It’s dark brown with a nice head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted malt and dark, ripe fruits. The flavour sends my thought in the direction of an abbey ale... I get notes of chocolate, dark, ripe fruits, a warming alcohol and a slightly dry, bitter finish. Absolutely interesting, but it has to be warmer than you normally would expect... Ansset13 (127), Wilmington, North Carolina, USA Dec 12, 2007 Pours dark brown with medium tan head. The nose is that of dark fruit, sugars, and touches of chocolate. The taste is more chocolate that the aroma, but otherwise follows suit with the nose. Very tasty! BelgianBeerGal (1275), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Dec 8, 2007 Bottled. Very dark brown colour with ruby highlights. Aroma is mild chocolate and a hint of alcohol. Flavour is more chocolate, some vanilla and molasses. Warming alcohol in the finish. Well done. obguthr (986), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Dec 7, 2007 Marvelously dark and candied aroma of horehound, licorice, molasses, and even a fine cigar. Dark ruby brown with a thick brown head, good lacing. Medium to full bodied and moderately sweet. Horehound and currant flavor with much more of the former. Plum finish. The alcohol sneaks up on you without you knowing it, so pace yourself. Not a lot of balance, but an amazing niche beer. Outstanding representation of the style and probably a 5 for those who like this type of beer. mephisto (1144), Taiwan Dec 4, 2007 a great brew!. dark brown with beige head, the aroma is deep nuts with a lot of complexity with hints of chocolate and coffee. the fruity flavor accented with raisin and brown suger carries through with under notes of vanilla and molassee. very delicious. railcat1 (578), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 4, 2007 This was a good beer and a style i am liking more i try.dark and chocolate with raisins and brown sugar but a nice smooth finish.CHEERS!
