xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA Oct 16, 2007 12 oz bottle from WLV Chicago. Dark brown almost black with creamy, small, tan head. Dough, plum and slight lager yeast aroma. Flavor is dark fruit, alc, caramel malt, sweet almost cloying, pretty nice though. Medium to full body, creamy. A pretty nice eisbock but not as good as Schloss Eggenberg’s version of the style. Beaver (588), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Oct 15, 2007 11.2 oz bottle. Pours a dark ruby brown with a creamy off-white head that goes to a thin film and leaves some lacing.
The aroma is sweet candy-like caramel malts, chocolate, dark fruits and some alcohol.
The flavor is sweet sugary caramel malts, dark fruits, and some smoke, with some alcohol warming. A bit of a bitter finish comes out as it warms. The mouthfeel is medium to full with low carbonation.
Overall, it tastes like an extra-sweet doppelbock. It is very well done and tasty.
Miksu (2192), Jyväskylä, Finland Oct 12, 2007 0.33 l bottle. Mahagony color with creamy head. Malty, bready, berryish, caramelly, toffeish and a bit vinous aroma. Sweet, malty and caramelly flavor with toffee, raisins and warming alcohol. Balanced and pleasant. Eructoblaster (1477), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Oct 11, 2007 Bottle - Dark brown body with ruby glints and an average beith bubbly head. Nice and complex malty/hoppy aroma with hints of roasted cereals, chocolate, vanilla, plum and brown sugar. Alcohol is very well hidden. Taste shows a good balance. It carries sweet, fruity, toffeeish and roasty notes. Ends with a long, sweet and warming finish. Dark and deep red, clear. Malty like mämmi, sweet, sugar, syrup, ryeish, spicy (anise?) and a bit fruity. Not very roasted nor bitter. Alcoholic. Very dense and sticky overall, makes your tongue go a bit numb. Moderate carb. Skeegle (476), Maryland, USA Oct 5, 2007 Updated: May 16, 2008Amazing. The sweetest, succulentest beer man has produced. I would drink this beer before I went on a date with Carmen Electra. Unless she had a bottle of this. The nose is beautiful like a cherry pie covered in caramel, the mouthfeel is medium bodied with perfect carbonation and presence. Alcohol never presents itself even in warming times, and the finish leaves still images of dried overripe dark fruits all over the tongue. Amazing. Godibilissima.
