Arayaga2 (931), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 18, 2007 Very dark brown, almost black with a thin white head. Aroma is malty, but minimal. Taste is thin sweet and roasty with caramel and honey tastes. No real alcohol apparent in the taste, but it was rather sweet. $4.75/10oz PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA Apr 18, 2007 Bottle: Pours a very deep brown with ruby tints and a fading tan head. The aroma is loaded with sweet maltyness. Maple and brown sugar dominate. Slick mouthfeel, with a nice alcohol warmth. Dense maltyness gives off chocolate, brown sugar, light maple notes, and a roasty, slightly nutty (walnut?) finish with lots of smooth alcohol warmth. A solid malty warmer. holdenn (1431), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 17, 2007 12 oz bottle from West LakeView Liquors. Clear ruby amber color with a tall beige head. Light aroma of malt and carmel. Malty sweet flavors brown sugar, carmel, fruit, some bitterness from hops. A little too much sweet and heat, but not bad for the value. beerlord (215), tonawanda, New York, USA Apr 16, 2007 Nice dark ruby with a thick tan head. Huge malt aroma, huge malt flavor, almost like a barly wine, sweet but not cloying. Heavy mouth feel. a touch of spice in the finish. Skyview (4003), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Apr 9, 2007 Oh yeah! Pours a clear dark brown with ruby highlights and a small tan head that leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel, dark fruit, molasses, and a touch of roasted malt. Taste is the same with a smooth creamy texture and mild bitterness. Alcohol is very well hidden and the beer is very well balanced. Ron (1000), Rochester, New York, USA Apr 8, 2007 One bottle from BOTW. Poured a large tan head. Poured a dark stained oak with thin tan head. The aroma was of sweet malts, cherry fruitiness, a bit of alcohol and a hint of caramel sweetness. The flavor starts with a thick dark fruity sweetness and sweet caramel. Then the malts fade and the fruitiness takes on a complexity with apple and date notes. The beer taste ends sweet, fruity, caramel, a tad nutty and some alcohol warmth.
