dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA Jun 6, 2009 Pours a dark amber brown with medium off-white head. Aroma strong of roasted malt, alcohol, and dried fruit. Flavor matches, but alcohol overwhelms the senses in this one. Bitterness shines through eventually and the aftertaste is more pleasant than the initial taste. Drinkable, but nothing I need very often. Grizzle (44), Lawrence, Kansas, USA Jun 4, 2009 12 oz. served in a pint glass. Excellent, syrupy sour cherry aroma, and crystal clear dark amber or red in color. No head to speak of, though it did pour well. Great caramelly and roasted flavor. Can definitely taste the alcohol. Cavie (1300), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Jun 2, 2009 Dark ruby pour. Strong aroma. Smells of fermented fruit and aged grapes. Definitely a red wine type of flavor with a slightly dry finish. Alcohol is not tasted at all. My first eisbock and a superb sample! JanVittrup (138), København V, Denmark May 31, 2009 Very dark brown with amber highlights. No head.
Fruity. Warm alcohol. Not really sweet. Not bitter.
Fizzy, medium body.
Not really a style for me. Too flat, too alcohol balanced.
Purchased at New Beer Distributors, New York drjay44 (756), Salida, Colorado, USA May 28, 2009 33 cl. bottle. Pour a thick but short lived head, over a clear dark amber (SRM 20) body..... nose of raisin, plum, ginger, cinnamon, no hops, minimal alcohol....tastes of molasses, spices, with rich malty sweetness throughout, and a mild bitter dry finish.....mouth feel is thick and chewy. Meets the style to a "T". savnac (393), Palmer, Alaska, USA May 26, 2009 Bottle. Aroma of caramel, bread, dried fruit and alcohol. Deep dark brown with a very small tan head that completely vanishes. Sweet malty flavor of bread and sugar, just a very slight bitterness. Creamy smooth mouth feel with a mild carbonation, medium to full bodied. Exceptional beer that goes down almost to smooth, alcohol very well hidden. carruthm (1110), Seattle, Washington, USA May 24, 2009 On tap at stumbling monk. Dark hue with nice sweet aroma and a great balanced sweet taste with dark fruity sweetness. Beerman6686 (1263), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 18, 2009 This poured a dark red/briown color with an off white head. Aroma was lots of dark fruits, some maltiness and alcohol as well. Flavor was dark fruits, some caramel, malty, a bit roasted and some alcohol warmth as well.
