Appearance:Deep mahogany pour with a one finger beige head that lingered.
Aroma:Sweet malts, caramel, chocolate, red wine, alcohol and oak. A hint of sour cherries.
Flavor:Sweet malt, red wine, toffee, chocolate and cherries. Flavor was not as pronounced as the aroma.
Palate:Medium body with mild carbonation.
Overall:This lived up to the hype. Thought the aroma was awesome, the flavor was very good, not great. Glad I have more.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 12, 2009 This poured easy and tasted even better. Aroma was sweet like molasses and flavor was smooth and nutty. Low carbonation and easy to drink. Maybe the alchol content is higher but I couldn’t tell by the taste. A treat! badlizard (2337), Berkeley, California, USA

It pours a beautiful deep ruby brown beer with a creamy beige head which leaves a beautiful lacework. A huge amount of walnuts in the nose with hints of wood, caramel, marzipan and candy appearing. Reminiscence of some ageing. Quite a lot of walnuts in the taste. Low carbonation. Full bodied. Sweet. Great long sweet finish with a lingering sensation of walnut and sesame. Thanks a lot joss! cheapdark (2015), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Jun 25, 2009 How did I get such a highly rated beer for so cheap? Vintage of course. $2 for a 12 oz bottle. A darker thicker beer. Has a sweeter wheat aroma, quite enticing. Strong and thick on the buds from the beginning. Thick and oily alky impressions. Truly dizzying after a while and in yer face. Alky flavors almost like high gravity cheap american beers but stronger and thicker. Perhaps a bit more palatable than those cheapo HGs. Difficult to handle for this lager wooss any horn. I guess they can’t sell this in some states, woohoo. hheheheh
