glennmastrange (807), hobe sound, Florida, USA Mar 24, 2009 Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of toasted, dark chocolate and mild coffee, light flowers and dough for the yeast, with notes of raisin, brown sugar, vanilla, sapodilla and melon. Head is huge, creamy with some larger bubbles, very light brown, with fair lacing yet great legs and is fully lasting. Color is clear dark brown. Flavor is heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately sweet and lightly acidic. Palate is medium to full, syrupy, has a lively carbonation and finishes moderately alcoholic and chewy. A sweet fruity beer without being cloying, but the mouthfeel puts this Eisbock over the top. HOPSHUNTER (376), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 24, 2009 Bottle. Poured a dark reddish brown thin eggshell head. UcfLumberjack (3), Orlando, Alabama, USA does not count Mar 14, 2009 Aroma:malty sorts of aromas. no hop aroma. mostly carmel, some bread or pie crust, a little toasty
Appearance: pretty dark, not as dark as a stout but darker than a brown. some redness or amber when held up to a light. big head first that dissipated quickly.
Flavor: really malty. no real perceivable hop flavor. mostly like toasted bread or pie crust, a little roastiness, less carmel
Palate: smooth, medium body, no real perceivable sweetness, slight bitterness in the finish
Overall Impression: Its just like I hoped it would be. Very flavorful, very malty, but not sweet or syrupy. I had hoped for more carmel and less roastiness though.
