Aroma is noticeably strong of alcohol and syrup. Taste is alright, but not to my liking, a little overpowering initally. Rich roasted malts and toffee flavours. stouby (1949), Holbaek, Denmark

Sample shared with rickgordon. Dark red with a light brown head, fully diminishing, no lacings. Aroma heavy malty (brown fruit/sugar, chocolate) and light hoppy. Flavor heavy sweet, moderate bittersweet. Medium body, creamy, soft carbonated. Heavy in alcohol. scraff (1946), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 24, 2008 Dense brown, creamy off white head. Rich caramel coated plum and warm musty fig notes are well layered over softer aromas of cherry molasses and brown sugared grapes. Well balanced deep dark fruit flavors ride waves of warm toasted caramel from start to finish. Just a faint hint of hops shows up late, but this is all about the malt. Medium bodied with pillow soft carbonation. A great after dinner sipper in my opinion… MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA

Nice nose, lots of dark fruit (plums and raisins), some caramel sweetness. Big flavors, vinous, lots of port/wine character. Malts are strong, caramel, nutty, and a bit of chocolate. Alcohol is a mite overly noticeable with a burn at the end, but really quite lovely. MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 23, 2008 33cl bottle. Cool label design: poured dark brown with a medium sized light brown head. Very rich aroma of caramel, figs, raisins, prunes, etc. Taste is very malty with all the dark fruits above. Starts off sweet and finishes nicely bitter albeit mild. Undoubtedly Kulmbacher’s best beer. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Apr 4, 2005 Dark, murky black/brown in color. Nice semi-bubbly grey head. For aroma, there’s a metallic twang (probably from the high ABV), which seems to cover up hints of roasted and caramel malts, and a tad of cedar that comes through. Taste is very rich, characterized by chocolate malts and a small backend of earthiness, walnuts and protruding prunes. Caramel malts play a dominant role in sweetening and balancing the beer. Very full-bodied. Quite possibly the richest beer in the bock genre that I’ve had the blessing of tasting. As it warms, the beer gets only better, smoother and more balanced. You can’t taste the heavy alcohol presence until you get a small hint of it near the end of the beer. That being said, you can feel the alcohol’s effect after sip number two. Fantastic beer. God bless Eisbocks. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 15, 2005 Pours a clear brown body with a nice tan head. Aroma is sweet with lotsa malt. Caramel, mollasses, and chocolate come through. Flavor is the same. Also a hint of coffee, roast, dark fruits and bread. Really rich sweet taste. Don’t be fooled by the stupid label, this is quality. tronraner (1933), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 25, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours bold mahogany with thin ivory head. The aroma is oak, red wine, sour cherries, brown sugar, slight chocolate, anise, and flowers. The flavor is brown sugar and oak, with a very faint sour note. Some woody bitterness comes out, too. Smooth sweetness sticks around throughout. Light alcohol is detectable, but not intrusive at all. Pretty good.
