Reduces quickly but has decent carbonation keep the head regenerating. I love to watch eisbocks. Fun to sit and watch the little eddies of carbonation on the surface. Rich aroma of licorice, soy sauce, alcohol and peat. Color is a deep red mahagony. Flavor is thick and malty. Bit more soy sauce. Huge smoke presence after the swallow. Was not prepared for that. SOmething strange in there. Almost like a dry sweet potato skin. Finish is slightly bitter and warming with a lingering burnt/smokey/salty soy sauce aftertaste. Not bad but different. I dig eisbocks! Superb eisbock; malty (soooo toffeeish!), very fresh, quite sweet and almost too much so, alcohol is 9.2% - you'd never know. Besides Southampton's Double Eis (which is much much paler in color and even more vanillaey and caramelly) I cannot imagine a better eisbock. So much smoother than Aventinus. rederic (1811), montréal, Quebec, Canada

Pours a dark reddish brown. Sweet caramel/roasty aroma, smells like blackstrap molasses. Roast malt/chocolate flavor with a touch of fruit and great alcohol bite in the finish.. The aroma is sweet, malty, dried fruit, caramel. Smooth and full on the palate. The taste was sweet malt with a touch of bitterness but the balance was done perfectly. An excellent example of the style. Should be. It’s the prototype.
