Pours deep brown with some red hues fighting to sneak through. Aroma of chocolate covered cherry, raisens. Rich malt flavor of chocolate and dark dried fruits. Some vinous qualities. The alcohol in the finish is pleasant and warming, not that annoying burning that some other beers have. This one is damn good. So good that I am going to get another bottle next time I go in. pilsnerrogge (1784), Finspång, Sweden

A nicely dark pour, with a gem-like glow in the middle, and a substantive head. Smells very much like a port, and even has some of the consistency thereof - figs, raisins, a touch of anise. But the sweet malts are balanced by that slight alkie burn that’s distinctive to this style, giving it a real sipper’s quality. Good stuff.
