Commercial Description:
The ice bock, also known as "Bayrisch Gefrorns", owes its discovery to a coincidence. According to the chronicles of the Kulmbacher brewery, some time around 1900 an apprentice forgot on a cold winter day to carry two barrels of bock beer into the brewery cellar. The barrels stayed outside, were covered by ice and snow and weren’t discovered until the following spring. The barrels had burst and the apprentice was reprimanded. But the carelessness was a stroke of luck because under the thick ice coat, a bock beer extract remained, strong tasting and high in alcoholic content.
Even if the dark, tasty speciality is not produced in this spectacular way anymore, the chance that gave birth to this beer became a tradition. Today this beer rarity is brewed in a modern brewing and freezing process, but the incomparable taste is still the same and can always be enjoyed in winter months.

12oz bottle aged one year. Dark brown pour with a big tan head. Malty sweet and nutty notes in the aroma. Sweet flavor with vanilla, nuts and some roastiness. Pretty good.

Bottle from Bruisin Ales. This hit me over the head with soy and teriyaki. Salty molasses. Three words for this beer: malty and salty. Three more: not my bag.

Let me preface this by saying I hate eisbocks. Never met one I liked escept Springslicker’s homebrew... until tonight. This is damn impressive. Aroma of chocolate covered raisins, some Malt, molasses, brown sugar, and some chocolate malts. yumm. The appearance is very dark ruby brown with medium light tan head. The flavors are of Reisins candys, chocolate, Lots of malts, and some nice darker fruits, some prunes, some apricot, some molasses. Way impressed for $2.19. Hot damn, don’t forget about the alcohol burn though.

Bottle: Brown body with a small tan head, that is a deep, clear ruby when held to the light. The aroma is very fruity and sweet. I get apples, prunes, plums, sweet dark malts, caramel, toffee, banana, and a subtle hint of hops towards the finish. Taste is sticky sweet caramel malts, syrupy toffee candy, banana, clove-like alcohol, sweet chocolate, molasses, and maple syrup. Finishes with hints of clove, toffee, grains, and chocolate. Medium to full bodied, moderate carbonation, slick and oily mouthfeel.

i’m sorry, I’m sure this is a well-made beer, but it makes me want to throw up. And I can’t go giving high marks to a well-made beer that makes me gag. ugh. powerful stench of rotting pawpaw drowned in soysauce. Horrifically sweet and chunky in the mouth with more soysauce and prunes. I even checked by sniffing some kikkoman. It was the same. Sorry, just not my thing. thanks anyway motel for sending it

Bottle. This one is nice. All the richness of a great Imperial Stout, along with a rich bocky taste. Deep black-brown color, with minimal head. A great sipper, with a warming smooth chocolate aftertaste. Exceptional beer.
