| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 20, 2009 Pretty solid representation of the style. Clear, dark mahogany color with a 1/4 inch caramel head that left a bit of lacing. Aroma isn’t as aggressive as one might expect for the weight...lots of sugary malt, toffee, coffee, and cocoa. Flavor possesses some nuttiness accompanied by honey, vanilla, and caramel. Medium mouthfeel. Good beer. pineypower (1096), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA

Aroma is of chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is very smooth for a high gravity beer. Wonderful taste of chocolate, figs and roasted malts, maybe with a bit of prunes and brown sugar. Slight hop finish, but a wonderful mouthfeel with a very nice taste that warms you up on a cold winter’s night ditmier (1091), Boise, Idaho, USA

Strong barley notes, some anise and some sweetness. Flavor is a little watery at first, but then has more of a alcohol and hoppy bite to it. nate2g (1082), Brisbane, Australia
