Commercial Description:
The ice bock, also known as "Bayrisch Gefrorns", owes its discovery to a coincidence. According to the chronicles of the Kulmbacher brewery, some time around 1900 an apprentice forgot on a cold winter day to carry two barrels of bock beer into the brewery cellar. The barrels stayed outside, were covered by ice and snow and weren’t discovered until the following spring. The barrels had burst and the apprentice was reprimanded. But the carelessness was a stroke of luck because under the thick ice coat, a bock beer extract remained, strong tasting and high in alcoholic content.
Even if the dark, tasty speciality is not produced in this spectacular way anymore, the chance that gave birth to this beer became a tradition. Today this beer rarity is brewed in a modern brewing and freezing process, but the incomparable taste is still the same and can always be enjoyed in winter months.

One bottle from BOTW. Poured a large tan head. Poured a dark stained oak with thin tan head. The aroma was of sweet malts, cherry fruitiness, a bit of alcohol and a hint of caramel sweetness. The flavor starts with a thick dark fruity sweetness and sweet caramel. Then the malts fade and the fruitiness takes on a complexity with apple and date notes. The beer taste ends sweet, fruity, caramel, a tad nutty and some alcohol warmth.

Bottle. Pours a deep garnet color with an ivory wisp. Sweet malt aroma with toffee, caramel and some dark fruits. Big and sweet with sharp fruit flavors; dark fruits but also melons and some apricot. Rich chocolate and caramel flavors- man this would be tasty reduced down and poured over ice cream but to do so would be sacrilege. Thick and lingering aftertaste.

Pours a dark copper color with a tan head. Aroma is of dark fruits, chocolate, brown sugar, and almost no alcohol. Flavor is sweet up front with the brown sugar, chocolate, and dark fruits. Finishes dry with some alcohol warming. Pretty good.

Pours a deep dark black brown color with a small amount of bubbly white fizz on top. Aroma is cokey caramel, sweet alcohol, figs, and brown sugar. Flavor is smooth and light, yet powerful and potent. Flavor is figs and raisins, sweet molases with a slight dry bitter hoppiness. Overall, i found this beer to be exceptionally good. Perfect winter warmer.

Reddish brown body, small head, sweet malty nose with molasses. Rich mouthfeel, malty and sweet. Very slight bitterness in the middle, some spice, sweet finish. Alcohol well-hidden.

9.2% bottle. Dark brown with hints of red. Small light brown head that quickly dissapears. Aroma of raisins, malts, and bread. Chewy malty body. Hints of chocolate and licorice. Hides the alcohol very well.

Flaske. Fantastisk smuk øl. Klassisk bock med det ekstra punch en eisbock skal have. Passede perfekt til Eddie Murphy.

Dark with roasted malt aroma. A very different milky aroma also is noticed. Creamy, rosted nutty, miky flavors. Nice smooth finish. Excellent beer!
