Pours a dark brown with a slight hint of red when held up to the light. One-finger light tan head that dissipates quickly. Sweet malty aroma with hints of dark, dried fruits and alcohol. Thick, syrupy mouth-feel. Flavor reflects aroma with more alcohol presence. Excellent. valpoaj (362), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA

Nice color pour with a quickly dispersing head. Flavor fits the aroma exceptionally...smooth brandy flavor with hints of molasses and brown sugar...thick coating on the palate and very drinkable...high quality bock with an awesome label to boot! doboy (181), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 6, 2007 Pours a transluscent ruby hued brown with a minimal tan head that fades to a ring. Initial aroma of dark, vinous fruits transitions to a malty compex of brown sugar, caramel, toasted grain and bread and strawberry or blackbery jam. Flavours of dark fruit, oak, raisins, toasted bread and caramel are supoorted by a full, chewy, extremely drying palate. The finish and aftertaste is long with pronounced roasted malts suggesting cocoa and coffee. doubleo (1121), San Diego, California, USA

Awesome! Many thanks to brewandbbq for this ancient treat! Pours dark brown with a very little, fizzy head. Smells sweet and malty, only a very tiny hint of oxidation. Tastes awesome. Dark and malty and caramelly sweet, somewhat roasty. Thick body, even with the lack of a significant head the carbonation is surprisingly good. Black and opaqe with a pretty tan head - very nice looking, and the darkest lager I’ve seen. The color contrast of the fairly light head and the black beer is very appealing. Aroma of caramel, candy sugar, figs, lots of plum, and almost a little wood. Beautiful rich caramel flavor, heavy and lots of depth. Chocolate, raisins, molasses, even a little cherry can be found. This beer has a lot of weight to it - the body’s heavy, very smooth and pleasant on the tongue. A bit of warming alcohol shows through, reminding me that this is a big beer. A big success, as well - eisbock is a rare treat, and I’ll certainly be searching for more of them. mcdav2154 (297), Germany
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 22, 2009 Poured in a snifter. Beautiful dark amber color with a small head that disappears rather quickly. No lacing. Smells of big malts, some caramel, and brown sugar. Taste was huge in malt, brown sugar, raisins, and maybe some darker cherries. Really a good brew that gets a lot better as it warms up. Great for this time of year when it’s getting cold outside and you’re looking to warm up with a beer that has a lot of depth. One of my new favorites.
