The aroma is of dates and brown sugar. The flavor is chocolate, dates, and brown sugar - all the while being very nice with the alcohol nowhere to be found. The palate is rich, but not sticky. This is one fine Eisbock that I would recommend to anybody. Very, very good! stubby (326), Santee, California, USA

This one has a slightly fruity (apple) and toffee flavor. Almost no head, very little carbonation. Gorgeous dark red/brown. Full bodied yet not cloying. Great after dinner beer. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 24, 2007 strange reward for getting a good grade at school. very deep maroon cherry red, doesn’t let light through. almost no head except at the rim. smells of syrup and chocolate. actually kinda reminds me of the kuhnhenn raspberry in smell. pretty good unless you take a deep whiff and get the artificial hard candy aroma. otherwise it’s got a lot of fruit. taste is, of course, very very malty. not much alcohol, but it’s at fridge temp and it’s a very weak eisbock abv-wise. i honestly love it. alcohol is starting show on the back as it warms. i find myself drinking lots of small sips of it, not even paying attention. definitely a beer worth more than the alcohol content. joeec5 (204), bayonne, New Jersey, USA

Dark raisisn and alcohol. Rich taste, with warming alcohol and malt. Raisiny as well. The alcohol is hidden well. Not as sweet as I thought it would be either. Finishes malty and warming. Outstanding beer. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 27, 2005 Bottle thanks to Beerslayer. Dark brown color with a thin tan head. Very sweet malt aroma with lots of caramel and dark fruits. Flavor is also very sweet,
with tons of caramel, malt and prunes.
Very good, and I would probably say excellent if just a tad less sweet. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of Roasty malt, brown sugar, dark fruit, nuts, cacao. Tastes roasty malty, with blackberry, plum, cherry, brown sugar, and hop notes. Nice complexity and palate heft, with well hidden alcohol. This one is a standout. pineypower (1104), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA

Aroma is of chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is very smooth for a high gravity beer. Wonderful taste of chocolate, figs and roasted malts, maybe with a bit of prunes and brown sugar. Slight hop finish, but a wonderful mouthfeel with a very nice taste that warms you up on a cold winter’s night
