Caramel, mollasses, and chocolate come through. Flavor is the same. Also a hint of coffee, roast, dark fruits and bread. Really rich sweet taste. Don’t be fooled by the stupid label, this is quality. french578 (4), California, USA does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 19, 2005 Black/reddish color to it, with a very sweet aroma. Head evaporates in a blink of an eye, but is nice while it lasts. Warm feel in the mouth and sweet on the palate. Strong as all fuckin hell, but strangely it doesn’t taste too strong. Makes American brews like Ice House seem more like "Piss House". One word...Molasses JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA

Dark brown, almost mahogany with a fairly large creamy head. Sweet, potent aroma of smoky-roasted malts, cane sugar, and apples. Taste is heavy with strong malts, very chewy. Elements of caramel and very bold roasted grains. Very nice brew! krysztofar (344), belleville, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 14, 2007 11.2oz bottle. this big beer in a little bottle pours out so brown it looks black, but when held to light it reveals itself to be a beautiful ruby shade. a one inch foamy tan head rises and falls pretty quickly. big raisin and plum aroma a little bitter chocolate and some alcohol also appear as well as some spice. clove maybe? powerfull and intense flavor of roasted malt and caramel but with more of a banana and clove dynamic than chocolate and coffee like a regular dopplebock. big spicy hops control the back half with the high alcohol never really coming to play, hiding behind the massive flavor. excellent. jhumphries69 (730), Tyrone, Georgia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 10, 2006 Updated: Dec 8, 2006Pours a very clear, but dark, amber with a tan head that dissipates quickly. The smell contains lots of malts, some roasted notes (toasted bread), some fruit (prunes), and some alcohol. The flavor is very malty and delightfully bittersweet from the hops. It starts off with a well balanced interplay of thick and doughy malts with floral and peppery hops. The carbonation provides some zip on the middle of the tongue along with a touch of alcohol bite. The finish is malty sweet with a nice dose of bitter hops and is surprisingly dry with a dry, complex after-taste. The mouthfeel is not as thick as its strength might suggest (the magic of "eis"bock). It is full-bodied, but not nearly so as other strong bocks. The finish is full-bodied, too - it isn’t a very dry beer, but than one might expect from a strong lager. Quite nice. ford9719 (369), Vilseck, Germany
