The aroma is sweet malty, caramel/toffee, ripe fruits, slightly woody, and slightly vinous. The flavor was more sweet malts, caramel, ripe fruits, woody, light chocolate, with some earthy bitterness in the finish. This is medium bodied and silky smooth. Where is the alcohol? This is very drinkable at 9.2%. msante79 (841), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA

Pours a dark amber with a paperthin light copper head that diminishes quickly to nothing and a lot of carbonation. The aroma is sweet caramel malt with dark fruit. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet fruity malt flavor with raisin and cherries. Hides the alcohol very well making it easy to drink. A very impressive Eisbock from Kulmbacher. emerica56 (583), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 6, 2007 This beer pours a clear opaque brown and amber color. There is no head nor is there any laceing to it at all. It has a very sweet smell of maple sugar. As you drink it there is a ncie tangy bitterness initially, but as it warms up you start to get some hints of cherry and some nice sweet yet mildly bitter flavors that coat the sides of your mouth and last for a while. It is very thick and smooth as it slids down your throat. Bradrcr (781), Renton, Washington, USA

Aroma is sweet malt mixed with an amazing amount of dried fruit, primarily raisins and plums, followed by some smooth alcohol notes. Appearance is dark brown, with a low tan head. Flavor is dried fruity malt forward with caramel, toffee, raisins and more smooth alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with lots of warmth. Overall, a neat beer that I can only simply describe as a lagered barleywine.

Aroma is probably the biggest let down of the brew, makes me think of dark dried fruit such as raisins or black currants. Body is much more sensational, some almond and hazelnut with loads of earth, wood, and some vanilla to boot. Very sweet, almost cloyingly so but that same sweetness brings a 60 second finish. Decent carbonation keeps this one pretty lively. An excellent beer, but I did have higher hopes. darkseduction (206), Zweibrücken, Germany

Dark raisins and fruits, chocolate and toffee notes, sizzling. Massive alcoholic impression but well balanced overall. Nice Bock. TheCaptain (559), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA

Liquor like malt quality with dark fruits and slight sweetness that slithers into the pallet. Has a fine aged quality that creeps in when it warms up. Smooth with some tasty roasted bitterness towards the end. Another one that I will have again soon.
