Medium body with a slick mouthfeel. A very tasty taste mirrors the smell with black currants and molasses. Very easy drinking i could have pounded this beer. 6106 Allen (1425), Switzerland

It pours a beautiful deep ruby brown beer with a creamy beige head which leaves a beautiful lacework. A huge amount of walnuts in the nose with hints of wood, caramel, marzipan and candy appearing. Reminiscence of some ageing. Quite a lot of walnuts in the taste. Low carbonation. Full bodied. Sweet. Great long sweet finish with a lingering sensation of walnut and sesame. Thanks a lot joss! drewbeerme (2306), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Small bubbly biege head melts away to edges and disappears as beer warms. Palate is smooth, slightly syrupy, lightly tingly. Some very fine lacing at start. Aroma is brown sugar, molasses, malt and raisins. Taste is brown sugary malt sweetness, nicely rounded and not harsh. Very slight alcohol burn but alcohol actually pretty well hidden. My first eisbock and what a good one! Very doppel-like but for a little more flavor complexity. Goodgrief (1161), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 30, 2008 Beer pours with all the characteristics of cola. You’d be hard pressed to tell the difference side to side. This beer has all kinds of sweetness in it, but avoids even approaching sickly sweet. Malt balls, raisins, licorice, plums and brown sugar. Mouthfeel was almost perfect for the beer, just enough carbonation to keep things crisp. Good brew. MattShizzle (385), Bernville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 6, 2008 Bottle. Very dark copper color. Excellent - very rich, somewhat roasty flavor. Not overly sweet. Tastes strong, but not as strong as it actually is. DuffMan (2774), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 18, 2008 Deep, dark mahogany. Sweet brown sugar and boozy sherry aroma. As this warmed up, a definite pruney aroma became apparent as well. Sweet and generously malty, molasses and bread crusts and stewed fruits, with a boozy warming finish. Better at higher temperatures-- much more restrained when chilled. RedHaze (370), Where the hell am I?, Nebraska, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 14, 2007 Pours a very dark brown that has some ruby highlights around the edges, with a thin off-white head that fades quickly to a thin spotty cap, and leaves only a small amount of lace.
Smell; lots of molasses caramel malts, with raisins, figs and other dark fruits. The smell has a strong vinous quality to it.
Taste; toasted caramel malts with some sweet molasses, and very rich. The vinous quality comes through in the flavor as well, with some grapes, and other dark fruits. There’s also a bit of a nutty taste in the finish to go along with a slight alcohol burn. Mouthfeel is full bodied, and very creamy. This goes down pretty easy, though it’s definiely one to sip.
