Commercial Description:
The ice bock, also known as "Bayrisch Gefrorns", owes its discovery to a coincidence. According to the chronicles of the Kulmbacher brewery, some time around 1900 an apprentice forgot on a cold winter day to carry two barrels of bock beer into the brewery cellar. The barrels stayed outside, were covered by ice and snow and weren’t discovered until the following spring. The barrels had burst and the apprentice was reprimanded. But the carelessness was a stroke of luck because under the thick ice coat, a bock beer extract remained, strong tasting and high in alcoholic content.
Even if the dark, tasty speciality is not produced in this spectacular way anymore, the chance that gave birth to this beer became a tradition. Today this beer rarity is brewed in a modern brewing and freezing process, but the incomparable taste is still the same and can always be enjoyed in winter months.

Reddish brown body, small head, sweet malty nose with molasses. Rich mouthfeel, malty and sweet. Very slight bitterness in the middle, some spice, sweet finish. Alcohol well-hidden.

Pretty ruby red color when held up to the light with a thin, whispy head. Sweet dark caramel nose. Lots of dark sweetness, like prunes, dried fruit, and rum raisens. Almost nutmeg spice to it. Alcohol is a stong undercurrent, but not the dominent sensation. Very nice sipping beer.

Dark brown with a medium tan head. Sweet aroma of brown sugar and dark fruit. Flavor is sweet and with alcohol cutting in. Neither flavor is overpowering though. Medium body, syrupy and sticky. Nice throat warming from the alcohol.

Roasted malts, molasses, raisins. Nice aroma. Dark brown amber clear with small off-white lacing head. Thick watery body with medium carbonation. Starts sweet, very malty. Raisins, molasses, roasted malts, sugary start. Sweet light bitter finish. Malty enjoyable eisbock.

What's better than a bier hand delivered from Germany? A good one. Thought that this one would help me break my standard St. Paddy's day outing. Very nice brown - ruby tinged with with light. Low carbonation. Soft to the pallet, sweet, but not cloying in the least. I have no idea if this is fresh or aged as theres no date (haltbar bis: ?) I find the alcohol very well hidden. Fruity - (dates) and chocolate. VERY enjoyable. Thanks to Pivo ever so much.

I really liked this bottle to go from Max’s. Dark brown pour while visions of plums and candied fruit dance around your nose and on your tongue. Very thick mouthfeel with a slight nod to the alcohol. A very earthy ancient port? Yum

This beer looks like dark, liquid chocolate. Lots of cocoa and molasses in the flavor, as well as in the aroma. Very well balanced hops and malts. Alcohol is very well-masked.

Pours dark brown, kind of like Coke. Aromas are malt raisins, molasses, and dark fruit. Flavors are malt, brown sugar, dark fruit, and raisins. Body is medium to heavy. Thanks to Brock_Landers for this bottle.
