Reduces quickly but has decent carbonation keep the head regenerating. I love to watch eisbocks. Fun to sit and watch the little eddies of carbonation on the surface. Rich aroma of licorice, soy sauce, alcohol and peat. Color is a deep red mahagony. Flavor is thick and malty. Bit more soy sauce. Huge smoke presence after the swallow. Was not prepared for that. SOmething strange in there. Almost like a dry sweet potato skin. Finish is slightly bitter and warming with a lingering burnt/smokey/salty soy sauce aftertaste. Not bad but different. I dig eisbocks! Crystal malts come out with caramel and roast. Dough and figs. Some brown sugar. Flavors of sour malts with some bitter notes. More sugar and some notes of sour dough. More of the same malts. Sticky and bitter finish with traces of alcohol. Boutip (2364), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

Aroma of sweet cookie dough with dry figs and raisins. Taste is quite sweet without being disgustingly sweet with some dry gigs, cookie dough and plums. Body is about average and alcohol is well hidden. Very good beer and I’m sure it would be interesting to cellar a few of those. FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA

Sampled March 2004 Pours a clear deep dark amber color that is topped by a light brown head. Intense aromas of malt waft from my glass; meaty, dark malts, and alcohol. The taste is smooth, thick, and creamy. Lightly sweet and very well integrated. The alcohol is well hidden as well. Damn this beer is a malty wonderland, only a hint of hop bitterness. The malt certainly plays center stage here, as it should in a bock. This is so smooth, no harsh notes to take away from the thick malt flavors, this beer is ripe with melanoids, and notes of raisins too. Just a great beer that demonstrates the characteristic bock flavors wonderfully. unclebleen (620), California, USA

(i think i like Schneider Aventinus Weizen-Eisbock better!) PeterA (339), Virginia, USA

Deep brown color with a short lived beige head. The alcohol is definitely present in the taste, but there is some nuttiness and fruitiness there as well, it seems very well balanced. There is a touch of bitterness in the aftertaste, and it seems a little bit sticky, but that stickiness feels like it melts away into water.
