Mild aroma, figs, cherry and a hint of chocolate and smoke. Flavor is Pumpernickel bread and blackberry, also mildly smoky. There are some hints of chocolate and coffee, too. Surprisingly tasty. aracauna (2422), Georgia, USA

The aroma is rich with prunes and chocolate (combined with the malt, it’s almost like a liquid prune brownie.) The flavor is sweet and rich with caramel added to that prune brownie. The body is thick and the brew is warming as it goes down. It’s odd how this beer’s 9.2% ABV warms on the way down while some beer’s 12% ABV are hardly noticed. Rockinout (946), Kent, Ohio, USA

The lighter brown head can only be called fizzy, it starts out large and fizzs away fairly quick. Deep hoppy aroma, there is more than a hint of carmal there too. Very full bodied beer. the hopps are not over powering, the malt is crisp and a bit syrupy. The finish is clean and quick. Very good beer. Very heavy, but very good. johndoughty (2170), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England

Strong full bodied and demanding respect this was a superb beer to drink. It also has a wonderful psychedelic label that adds to its uniqueness. Excellent. hopscotch (5549), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 8, 2003 Crystal clear, ruby lager with a small, creamy, beige head.
The nose is of merlot, buttermilk, chocolate, dark fruit and maple syrup.
Very malty flavor with lots of dark fruit and buttery, caramelly notes. But, very well-bittered, decently balanced and astringent on the backside.
Full-bodied with a fizzy/alcoholic mouthfeel. Lengthy, bitter finish. Very good stuff! daalamar (403), bardstown, Kentucky, USA

Comes off the tap a beautiful brown/orange color with only a small ring of a head. Aroma is light but easily discernable with sweetness and powerful malts making themselves known, and just the slightest hint of alcohol. Flavor is smooth and sweet, but not too sweet. There is almost no hop whatsoever. The mouthfeel is extremely smooth not oily, more like velvety. Very clean finish. Good beer and another that gets my recommendation. quantum24 (32), New York, USA
