MoritzF (4856), Bochum, Germany Nov 16, 2008 (33cl bottle) Clear, golden colour with a short but dense and slightly off-white foamy head. Light-sweet malty nose with sour dough and grassy, perfumed hops. Moderately sweet and faint bitter flavour, light bodied with a slightly fizzy carbonation. Doughy and slightly papery malty taste with grassy notes; moderately dry, slightly grassy hoppy and short finish (03.XI.08). KnutAlbert (3101), Oslo, Norway Nov 4, 2006 Rather standard German pilsener. Well balanced between malt and hops, not daring or inventive in any way. Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 17, 2006 (Bottle 33 cl) Pours a clear, pilsener golden with a small, white head. Nose of aroma hops and pilsener malt. Medium body, sweetish malty without much bitterness. Still unmistakingly German in temper. 170706 gunnfryd (3539), Kristiansand, Norway May 1, 2006 Bottled. Golden colour with a white head. Weak malty aroma with hay notes. The flavour is malty and unharmonic. yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway Apr 17, 2006 Bottled. Clear, golden beer with a diminishing white head. Weak, malty aroma with hay and hops. Mostly the same in the flavor, which is not as weak as the aroma. Medium to thin body with some bitterness at the end. Won’t get the gold medal from me. (060413) EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Feb 21, 2006 Slight skunk on opening of the clear bottle. Golden pour, white head. Weak, grainy malty aroma. Bready, sweetish. A little watery. Normally something I’d call a "characterless" beer - thin, not crisp, boring - very little taste at all. MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Jan 25, 2006 Bottle. Metallic hay aroma. Golden colour, unstable head. . Watery flavour, some bread. Low bitterness. No aftertaste, perhaps a little bready. Sigmund (2197), Hafrsfjord, Norway Jan 18, 2006 330 ml clear bottle, now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet). Pale golden colour, decent head. The "skunky" whiff when opening the bottle is actually the best thing with this beer - the longer lasting aroma is sweetish and grassy, notes of maize (corn) even though this is a Reinheitsgebot beer. Flavour is very bland, just a little maize-like sweetness and minimal hops. Kulmbacher have obviously been tempted to produce a beer for the younger crowd of swill drinkers, people who really don’t like the taste of beer at all. Shame on you, Kulmbacher - you can do so much better than this!
