Commercial Description:
The naturally-cloudy Mönchshof Kellar beer is the result of Mönchshof's centuries-long brewing tradition and of the love of traditional beer brewing. This amber color, mild beer appeals to lovers of unfiltered beer, the way it used to be. A tradional Mönchshof beer specialty.

Pours translucent brown/yellow with a thin off-white head. Nose is caramel malt and lightly floral notes. Flavor of caramel, cookie, with more floral hops, but very understated. Slightly oily, watery mouthfeel. Becomes a bit chalky as it warms. Quite yummy.

500ml swingtop - a surprise gift from SoLan - thanks Alan! You kick ass! Pours into my lager glass a hazy golden brown with a huge off white head. Nose is grassy and caramelly, some grainy bread and light whiffs of yeast, a little dusty. Mildly sweet caramel and bread with a crisp, grassy bite. Caramel sweetness amps up toward the end. Finish is slightly dry, lightly sweet caramel and seltzer. Crazy drinkable - I liked this very much!

Bottle@BlindTastingSession, May 09, 3.3: Aroma of orange, grapes, dough and a little yeast. Yellow/amber colour, hazy, large yellowish head. Sweet, pretty bitter, little citric, fruity, light yeasty. Sticky mouthfeel. Bottle@Home, March 08, 2.6: Grainy aroma. Hazy, light amber, beige head, good lace. Sweet, grainy, light bitter, dull, hint of caramel. Weak, not refreshing and bit boring example of the style.

500 ml porselain swing-top corked bottle. Two-finger creamy beige head. Slight unclear copper colored body. Bready and caramellish malt aroma. Taste is light sweet malty and bready with low bitterness and tones of wort and dough. Medium-bodied. Some earthy bitterness in the finish. A nice one.

Swing-top bottle received via trade with tjthresh. Pours cloudy brown with a small, fizzy, off-white head, somewhat lasting with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (caramel, lightly toasted bread, cereal), light hops (grass), average yeast (leaves, earth) with notes of apple and pear. Light bodied, thin texture, lively carbonation, and a chalky sweet finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness. This one is a very drinkable beer.

Bottle from Sergio’s - Pours dark burnished golden with a mostly receding off-white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, bready dough, and earthy malt. Taste is lightly sweet, malty, and yeasty. Notes of caramel, bread, and toffee. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation. A very drinkable lager.
