Commercial Description:
The naturally-cloudy Mönchshof Kellar beer is the result of Mönchshof's centuries-long brewing tradition and of the love of traditional beer brewing. This amber color, mild beer appeals to lovers of unfiltered beer, the way it used to be. A tradional Mönchshof beer specialty.

Bottle: Light hazy copper, thick white head and nice lacing. Nose of biscuit and clean yeast, light noble hops. Full bodied and vaguely malty. Nice lack of fruit and lagery. Nice clean malty pilsner, not very crispy with the hops though.

Bottle, bought at Fleggaard, Süderlügum. Pours a nice, hazy deep orange with a staying small off white head. Aroma is malty, sweet, some caramel, some dirt/stone. Quite full mouthfeel, rather creamy. Flavour is sweet with malty presence and a good deal of fruity tones as well. A good spice finish with a little peppery bitterness.

It is almost as if this kellerbier (cellar-beer) has a cellar like taste, the earth-tone colour and slight earthy/stone-like taste. This is an unusual remark, which is however considered a good thing in this delicious brew. It has some of the weissbier qualities, but also a bit of spice and other fruit-tones, one senses apple among others.

This is one fine lager. Pours dark mahogany with a soft off-white head. Very rich caramel malts, bready and warm with a soft balanced hop finish. Very smooth and easy drinking on the palate. Exceptionally good malty lager.

16.9 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy antique gold with a moderate biscuit colored head that faded to a film by mid-glass. The aroma is pretty light with some caramel and a bit of sweetness. The flavor is lightly sweet with caramel and some light grassy flavors. Ever so slight hops presence at the finish. Quite smooth with a medium mouthfeel. Very quaffable brew, as I polished off this bottle way too easily!

500ml swing top. Pretty dark amber with a very thin head. Reddish brew. The aroma is almost like iced tea and there does turn out to be a little bit of leafy tea-ness as you drink this amber lager. Otherwise it’s a milky, maltly, lightly carameled concoction that goes down way too easily! (#3028, 7/16/2007)

(50cl bottle) Small off-white head topped by cloudy brown body. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, some bread, light nut, faint ginger. Taste is medium sweet, caramel/bread, light nut, minimal earthy. Watery light-medium body.
