Poured a cloudy orange-copper/brown color with a very nice off-white fluffy head in a small 0.25L mug with a handle but no lid. The aroma was malty, some caramel. Flavor had a touch of caramel, was malty rich, and also featured light hopping (even a touch of pepper noted). Mouthfeel was fully and hearty, liquid bread, a nice beer enjoyed at the Dachsbrau house in Krefeld. MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA

Aroma is of apple cider with a touch of hops. Flavor is also apple ciderish. A moderate touch of alcohol in the finish. Medium bodied. Good. Stefano (1344), Esbjerg, Denmark

Very rich yellow color (gold?) with a nice white head. Good nose of malts and hops. Lots of complex flavors and a good mouthfeel. Nice.
Again, in Eureka, from a bottle purchased at the State Liquor Store in Salt Lake City UT. Just as I remember it, but seemed to have less nose. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 4, 2006 As with many in this style, I think they suffer when they are not fresh. This was a new arrival in my local store. The body was dark gold and near amber with a thin white head. The aroma had sweet caramel with tobacco and some honey. Nice and subtle. The taste was mild with grass and some caramel. There was also a little tobacco. The carbonation was soft and made this nice on the palate. A very good session style beer. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 29, 2006 Bottle from Super Saver. I think this is only my 2nd Zwickel, so that should propel me into the top 10 for this style. The pour was turbid medium copper with 1-finger off-white head. The aroma was caramel malty, with some toffee, brown sugar, and hopcitric hints. The taste is primarily caramel malty, pretty pagery, with some tannins and hopcitrus. I could never in a million years picked out this style blindfolded. JoeMcPhee (5025), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
