Love that bottle. Purchased and drank in Erfurt, Germany. Poured gold with a nice white head. Malts and hops. A little weak. While there was really nothing wrong with this, compared to the other German pils I have been drinking across the land on my beer tasting expedition this is one of the poorer ones.

We have a trendy beer place in the city where lots of suits go for a drink and a perve. Well the perve would be better than this. The beer is a Euro pils which is a bit of an insult to the style. This is a saponified piece of poor pis production. The IBUs are stated as being at 32 but I think they left a decimal point out. The flavour is grainy and thin, a waste of $8.

Bottled. Pale golden with a white head. Weak aroma of grass and malt. Malty flavor, but weak, with some grassy and hayish notes. Bitterness in the finish. Would maybe have rated this a bit higher if it was the only beer this night, but I doubt it. Average. (060518)

1/2 liter swing top bottle purchased in Hannover, Germany. Pours to a beautiful, bright, deep golden color with a thick, creamy, white head, and a good carbonation. The nose is very pleasing with mild aromas of grassy and herbal hops. The palate is crisp and clean with lots of good pilsner malt flavor. Body is very round and clean. This beer finishes with more crisp pilsner malt up front, then ends with a mild, herbal grassy hop bite. A very well balanced, very drinkable beer. This is the true beauty of a good German beer. It is what makes a beer like Mönchshof so good. A beer that you can literally "breathe in" by the liter. This is a beer drinkers beer. This is what beer drinking is all about. Prost!

The first pilsner I really and honestly liked. Poured an amber-yellow color (ie. more orange going on than the typical pilsner) with a great big head that laced incredibly well. There was a nice caramel base to this one (esp. for a pilsner) and the grassy hops just laid low in the background (hooray!). This one might have erred on being too sweet, more like a maibock or marzen style beer. Had just enough "traditional" pilsner qualities, that I could see it being a pilsner, but this was pushing the boandaries (and was therefore good). Great fresh sample off draft at the Dachsbau House in Krefeld, Germany.

Bottle. Golden clear colour with a nice head. Nice aroma of hops and malt. Malty flavour with notes of fruit, someway average, but a classic style.

Bottle. Pours yellow with a white head. Aroma of grain, sweet malts, and grassy hops. Flavor is bitter, grainy, corn-like, weak, and thin.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pilsener golden with a white head. Malty aroma. Medium-bodied, malty notes and quite dry with a rather hoppy finish. Very Classical German indeed. 190506
