Pours to a beautiful, bright, deep golden color with a thick, creamy, white head, and a good carbonation. The nose is very pleasing with mild aromas of grassy and herbal hops. The palate is crisp and clean with lots of good pilsner malt flavor. Body is very round and clean. This beer finishes with more crisp pilsner malt up front, then ends with a mild, herbal grassy hop bite. A very well balanced, very drinkable beer. This is the true beauty of a good German beer. It is what makes a beer like Mönchshof so good. A beer that you can literally "breathe in" by the liter. This is a beer drinkers beer. This is what beer drinking is all about. Prost! A mouthful of fine malty flavours(more bohemian style than german) leads into drier territories. The finish is pretty dry. Nice spicy aftertaste. More bohemian style than german but clearly a pilsener.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 5, 2006 The first pilsner I really and honestly liked. Poured an amber-yellow color (ie. more orange going on than the typical pilsner) with a great big head that laced incredibly well. There was a nice caramel base to this one (esp. for a pilsner) and the grassy hops just laid low in the background (hooray!). This one might have erred on being too sweet, more like a maibock or marzen style beer. Had just enough "traditional" pilsner qualities, that I could see it being a pilsner, but this was pushing the boandaries (and was therefore good). Great fresh sample off draft at the Dachsbau House in Krefeld, Germany. omhper (12299), Stockholm, Sweden
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 9, 2007 Bottled. Clear golden, firm creamy head. Grassy buttery nose. Remains dry despite some buttery malt sweetness. Slender streamlined body, yet with a solid amount of malt. Long bitter finish. Refreshing, well hopped and quite elegant. johndoughty (2170), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 6, 2003 Clear, golden color with a creamy white head, and a nice hoppy nose. A malty flavor that finished dry and a bit bitter, but not too bitter. I can't say I don't like any beer from Monchsof. dortmunder (961), Herdecke, Germany
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 15, 2003 Golden colour. Bubbly head. Flowery, hoppy aroma. Very creamy, smooth for a Pilsener. Hopbitter with a very light sweetness. Normal hopbitter, dry finish. The creaminess and smoothness turns this into one of the best german Pilseners in my book. Only Tannenzäpfle is better.
