Pours dark rootbeer colored with a large frothy beige head. Aroma of sweet raisins and yea I can actually smell a tad of pamesan Ungstrup speaks of. Full creamy mouthful, subtle carbonation, very milky. Raisins, creamy chocolate, roast, half&half creamer, and a touch of caramel in the flavor. Maybe some light smoke as well. I do taste some pumpernickel. Pretty dry.

Very dark clear mahogony brown, rocky tan head with little persistence. Aroma of roasted malts with some fruity lager yeast esters. Roast malts with molases and raisins. Dry light finish with some hop spiceyness. creamy mouthfeel with low carbonation.

500 ml bottle. Dark derrish brown, with a thick, beige head. Roasted malts and dark chocolate in the aroma. Flavour is like the aroma, with a hint of coffee and some hoppy bitterness i the finish.

Draft at Tap and Mallet in Rochester. Pours deep ruby with a beige head. Lightly roasted aroma with a caramel note. Medium body. Flavor is again roasted malt with caramel and semi-sweet chocolate. Nice.

. Purchased for 13 pesos a liter bottle at mexican Wal-Mart.Wow!! what a great palate for a Schwarzbier, fortunately it doesnt have that dull roasted flavor that another ¨¨Black-lagers¨¨ have, very drinkable, smooth, yet crispy feel, the only complain might be the aroma that doesnt come out that much, but it made me a good impresssion this one. I recommended it

(cleaning out my beer bottle collection as pictured in my profile and utilizing ratebeer.com) As I recall, this was a great dark beer. However, mine simply said "Schwarz" across the bottle, not "Schwarzbier" Maybe it was a limited production?

4-24-08 tap at HopLeaf in Chicago
Medium dark red brown pour with a decent fluffy ivory head and decent thick lacing. Smell is offensive malt and strange funk. Flavor is watery and bland and somewhat cottonlike. Palate is dull and weak. The smell just kills it for me - it smells like an old hospital and tastes like water that has been sitting out for three weeks in a contaminated glass. In other words, it just wasn’t one of my favorites.
