Mar 26, 2008 Bottle, nice dark malts some chocolate and chalk, no real hops to speak of but not a bad brew at all. Pours nice and dark with a tan head easy drinker no doubt.

Mar 23, 2008 Pours burgundy with a dense, beige head that leaves behind sticky lace. The aroma is chocolaty, sweet bread dough, much like chocolate devils food donuts with sweet fruity malt in the background (similar notes to some doppelbocks that I’ve sampled). Medium-bodied but fairly thin with a silky mouthfeel and a roasted, mildly bitter finish. Cocoa, coffee and roasted malt with a dry, earthy hop finish. This is a nice beer; worth trying if you enjoy this style.

Mar 21, 2008 bottle - Pours very dark brown with a medium sized tan head. There’s an aroma of roasted malt, toffee, and a hint of dark fruit. The flavor is of course of roast malt but has some nicely balanced hops lurking in the background too that lend a pleasantly dry finish. It’s medium bodied and leaves a little lingering roast flavor on the palate. Very enjoyable.

Mar 19, 2008 Dark black pour. Nice latte foam head. Aroma of yeast and toffee. Light bodied and refreshing. Very drinkable. Mild smoky stout notes with a crisp lager finish.

Clean, roasty, lagery aroma.
Some roastiness, fairly smooth perhaps watery.

Mar 16, 2008 Updated: Oct 31, 2008On tap at Ebenezer’s (served in a huge mug!!) Poured an opaque black with a thick white head. Taste of pizza dough, bock goodness. I’ve never had a schwarzbier before and this reminded me of a dopplebock. A good beer, nice and refreshing. Easy to drink. 6/4/7/4/14
Update 10/31/08: Had this from a bottle and it tasted similar to how I remember so I will not add any new comments, but I thought it deserved slightly better than a 3.5 so I upped the aroma by 1 point. Nice drinking swartzbier!

Mar 15, 2008 Dark, smooth, with a subtle hint of roast flavor. Surprisingly light with slight hop finish. Very nice.
