| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 2, 2008 Dark red in color, reminds me of birch beer in appearance, and a tan head. Smells like coffee and toffee. Lazy but present carbonation. Chocolate, coffee, and nuts dominate the flavors. Solid hops round it out. Dry through and through. My first Schwarz, may it always be with you. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

Beautiful dark mahogany beer, almost black, with a lovelly foamy, thick tan head.
Dark malty aromas, little hopping .Creamy aroma also.
Very nice semi-sweet dark malty flavour, a little sour, lactic even, dark chocolate hints in the back, slightly roasty, tiny amount of hop on the after taste.
Very nice mouthfeel well carbonated.
Overall an excellent black lager. drewbeerme (2306), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 30, 2007 Bottle. Pours a dark brown colour with lasting head. Aroma and taste is "roasty", with caramel and chocolate undertones. Not strong enough for me though. A bit boring frankly. ChainGangGuy (2613), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 28, 2007 Appearance: Pours a dark brown body with mahogany-hued edges and a full, frothy head.
Smell: Soft aroma of roasted malt with hints of milk chocolate, dark caramel, and fruit.
Taste: Dark maltiness with enough roasty hints and dark caramel to bolster this humble lager. Light touch of chocolate and fruit. Mild hoppiness with very little imparted bitterness, but enough to clean up the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A fairly easy-drinking, competent schwarzbier. Theis (3791), Denmark
