On-tap. Light and brittle foam, insufficient persistence. Strongly bitter and alcoholic scent, a lot unbalanced and overbearing. Dry and arid taste, bitter, nearly a medicinal. Medium fizz and duration. Long and little pleasant end. Not much refreshing. rudolf (1789), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 10, 2005 Clear, dark copper body and a fast fading grayish white head. Lots of Munich malt in the nose plus some roasty cocoa and an earthy character. Flavor is lightly sweet and focused on the darker malts with some roasted fruit and a significantly bitter, drying finish. Quite dry and a little over bitter for my liking.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 11, 2005 Pop-top bottle. Pours a deep, deep red with a full head. Cocoa aroma with a smidge of anise on the tongue. Maybe too creamy in the mouth for what I like in a schwarzbier. I would take Kostritzer over this but still an excellent example of the style. redlight (1499), Winter Park, Florida, USA
