Dark pour, translucent deep brown/black with a creamy light tan head. Soft bready malt aroma. The flavor has the clean profile of a lager and the roasty chocolate notes of a Porter. I like a good Schwarzbier and this wasn’t too shabby actually.

Brown color. Caramel aroma. Soft caramel taste, quite boring, average bitterness, Madeira touch.

Birlliant amber color, medium rocky head which left some slight racing on the glass. Aromas are bread, a tinge of hops, and a toast undertone. Flavors are well-integrated, with the toast and roast notes taking center stage. Hops play a minr role. Light-bodied, but no finish on this beer.

In the flip cap bottle. Pours a dark amber, very dark, but not black. Poofy white head. I must say that this was a little disappointing. Aroma and flavor were noticibly roasted, but the lager seems a little light on the body. Subtle smoke aroma is suggested, but I may just be mistaking that for the roasted aroma. Just not what I had expected. Great bottle, though. UPDATE: Now on tap at the Huber Haus. This beer is a little better vom fas. Aroma is of roasted peanuts in the basement. Dark mahogany in color. Finishes thicker than it starts. Chocholate aroma. Poofy tan head. Downright lumpy.

Mahogany with red highlights, this beer held it’s creamy tan head to the bottom of the glass. Delicious, rich, malted aromas with caramel, cookie-dough, prune, walnuts and gently smoldering wood. Flavor started with light, sugary sweetness alongside moderate bitterness that continued on to a sweet and smoky ending. Hearty and fulfilling. I enjoy smokiness and this was much more diverse and flavorful than a Rauchbier.

Pours dark amber with a tan head. Smell is on the nutty side. Taste is peppery and bitter.
