On tap at the Map Room; darker than the Hirter or the Kostritzer w/ what seemed to be a less generous head; aroma is roasty w/ notes of vanilla and burnt toast; flavor is smooth, dominated by the burnt and roasty flavors; not the best schwarzbier I have had, but tasty enough.

500 mL bottle from Greenlife Grocery in Asheville, NC. That kinda surprises me but alas, I labeled these things in the parking lot for a reason. Pours a clear ruby color with a large tan frothy head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is very nutty also with some strong caramel notes. Taste is nuts, caramel, very light grassy hops, very light roast and a milky note. Medium-full bodied. HIghly drinkable... very nice beer.

Nice smokey aroma and flavor. definetely malt and bitter at the same time. The appearance has a nice fluffy head on the pur that quickly dissapates, but still fully carbonated. I like to rauchbeir flavor.

Poured from a bottle a very dark reddish-brown color. Not quite black, but close. Smell of roasted malts and some notes of coffee. A nice faint smokey taste with bread notes, coffee notes and chocolate notes. Very smooth going down. While no one thing really stood out, overall this was a very likeable beer.

Roasted and very malty, caramelly. Just a very well made scwartz that looks pretty damn fine too.

5L mini-keg. Pours a dark brown head with copper highlights. Lacing, beige head. Smells of toast, brown sugar, and a hint of smoke. Tastes the same. Finish is a little dry, metallic, and thin.
