The aroma is sweet with notes of coriander and parmesancheese. The flavor is creamy and sweet with notes of roasted bread with the parmesancheese in the background and a dry chocolate end. DIsappointed I guess--thought this might be a much bigger beer, given its brewer. Actually, I believe I enjoyr Sprecher’s Black Bavarian more. Not that this is terrible. There’s the sour Munich malt aroma and flavor, as well as some smokiness in the flavor that competes with the Munich malt. But overall it reminds me of a weak porter. Flavor is not very strong or complex, and mouthfeel is pretty thin. Hoss (602), Florida, USA

I found it a good session brew with the main down grade a certain tinness to th eflavor that put me off jeffin7 (610), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA

Aroma of malt, Flavor is of a mild potato soup (sounds odd and it was at a tasting so maybe my palate was on its last leg but thats what I tasted. I still thought it was drinkable and a decent beer. madsberg (4966), Søborg, Denmark

Liqourice, malt and some roastyness in the aroma. Flavour is sweetish and maltish. Has liqourice notes. Is quite discrete on the palate, but some sweetness and a light bitterness. Good one. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 7, 2004 Dark brown clear. This was my first time to try this style of beer. Although I have tried some dark Czech lagers. I foung this to be pleasant but a bit thin for the strength, not sure about the aftertaste but good hop flavour. tjthresh (1774), Greenfield, Indiana, USA

Its not black. Dark brown with some garnet highlights. I got a big lasting tannish head. Very clear. I could see through my glass. Very nice roasted malt aroma with maybe a touch of hops. Darn fine tasting beer. Roasty sweet with a bitterness that I would expect to get from some black patent. Dry. Aftertaste lingers for a bit. Medium to full bodied. Nice drinking beer. Great buy on my part!
