Very dark "black Pils". Charcoal aroma and taste almost like very burnt coffee. But it went down very nicely.

A ver respectable beer, my first in the style. Pours a deep brown/black color, nice tan head rests on top and lends great lacing. Aroma is of dark malts and decnt hops, and is almost like the aroma of a typical porter, only not as powerful. Flavor is initially sweet and malty, then dry and toasty, and ends light and grassy. Very interesting, fairly long flavor. Palate is slightly thin, and this beer comes off as a bit tart/acidic.

Dark brown in appearance. Aromas are light, sweet malts. Flavours are sweet and malty with some coffee roast notes. Has a dry finish but lacks real depth.

Small light-brown creamy head, dark rusty amber color. Aroma has coffee with milk, some caramel, toast. Flavor is the same... toasted barley... clean and not overpowering.

Chestnut brown with frothy, quickly dissipating head. Roasted malty nose and flavor. A bit subdued. Crisp and easily drinkable. Cereal notes in body.

Deep brown colour, with a light brownish head. Full aroma of dark malt, clean nose of crushed roasted barley. Taste of "roasted barley coffee", bitterness comes from dark grain more than from hops. Finish dry.

Dark red-brownish color. Sweet roasted aroma, with hints of raisins and malt. Smooth and gentle on the palate. Dry to tart in the aftertaste. A very nice beer but would love to have a fresher bottle.

Bottle, from Fabeers in York. Deep chestnut red, good lasting off white head and quite low condition. Gentle roast barley and chocolate with some raisin fruitiness in the nose, soft in the mouth and slightly thin with a roasted edge and some malty chocolate notes. Finish is dry and tinny with a hint of toast.
