Bottle, from trade with Maria. It’s a clear, almost golden beer with a small, white head. Fruity, almost candyish nose with pale malts and a subtle touch of hops. Malty flavor, low on bitterness, but pleasantly fruity. Medium body, rather dry. Mellow finish blending grains and hops nicely. A quenching and refreshing beer, sort of boring like a kölsch is when not in Köln, but still nice. 090910

50cl Bottle from Aktiv Markt Trier. Clear golden colour, dense white head. Aroma of straw, light sweet malts, light sour herbal notes. Flavour is light sweet, grassy, herbal and light hoppy, prickly bitterness in the finish with a hint of sourness. Light bodied.

Very pale with medium head that lasted a long time. Nose has chocolate covered peanuts, almonds with a mix of saliva, yeast and seawater. Taste is watery wth a trio of medium resin hops, lightly bitter oats, and sour candies. A vast array of directions with no path leading to each other.

Bottle. Light barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with large fluffy head and mild effervescence. Tart lemon peel and barley malt flavor. Moderate grassy hops finish. Very nice

Pale golden color, thick white head. A bit sweet in aroma, very clean balanced bitterness. Properly made Kölsch

500 ml bottle. From Hilden, Germany. Clear pale golden colour with medium-size white head. Fruity malty aroma with cookie dough. Malty aroma with some fruity and hoppy notes. Flour in aftertaste. OK Kölsch.

Bottle, February 2007. Pale amber colour with a vanishing off-white head. Some light biscuity malt in the aroma but not a lot else. Light and slightly sweet flavour with a a little cookie dough character. Insubstantial, rather thin, mouthfeel. Palatable and easy drinking but, like most bottled Kolsches I have tried, fails to capture the delicate freshness that Kolsch depends on.

The flavor has a light to moderate sweetness and notes of fruit, flower, malt, caramel and the finish has notes of dry citrus. It’s soft, pleasant and nice to drink.
