| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jun 11, 2006 Just cuz it comes from Germany, doesn’t mean it will do the style justice. This one failed completely within style, although it was drinkable. Poured with the usual appearance, maybe a darker copper than many. Lacing was just ok. The main problem with this beer was the sweet caramel-like flavor, just way too much of it. Shows me right for trying an altbier outside the altiber capital of the world (had this in Wiesbaden). Mouthfeel was too sticky sweet. Cloying and very caramel-like. Tasted like an American knock-off of the altbier style. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 12, 2006 On tap at Resi’s in Chicago. After many different glasses during a couple of weekends this was by far the favorite beer. Pours a medium caramel color with a nice off- white head. Aroma of caramel malts, rain fresh hops, slight yeast. Moderate sweet taste, caramel, with a compensating bitter hop follow. Very nice and my favorite at Resi’s. MoritzF (5029), Bochum, Germany
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 23, 2006 bottle Clear ruby amber colour with a medium-sized foamy slightly off-white head. Toasty and caramel-malty aroma. Sweetbitter flavour, medium too light bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Sweet toasted malty taste with caramel and a vegetable note. Sweetbitter, slightly hoppy and quite thin finish. This Alt (from the river Main and not the Rhine) is way too sweet for my kind of taste. pivnizub (5086), Bochum, Porúří, Germany
