Commercial Description:
A beer specialty, just as it was brewed ages ago: top-fermented, with dark kilned barley malt and bitter-fresh hops. A unique taste, hearty and spicy. The old style beer with the genuine taste

Very easy drinking Alt with a light body and sweet roasted caramel flavor. Good bitter hopping inthe finish. Seems a little flat in texture. More inoffensive than remarkable in any way.

Bottle, Altes Brauhaus Bernkastel. Grainy aroma. Grainy flavor with some hops. Peppery with some licorice and cinnamon (also noticed by my wife when she took a sip). Light bitter aftertaste.

Draught: This poured slightly darker than a brown ale and was topped by a short-lived, off-white head. The aroma is a slightly smokey, lightly roasted malt with a hint of some spiciness. Medium-to-light bodied, it’s quite a sweet alt. There’s a bit of a roasted flavor to it, but mainly it’s a light, sweet bready malt with some herbal bitterness added to balance it out. Not bad.

Copper, thin head. Burnt coffee flavour. Thin body. Not a great example of the sytle..

Sampled @Resi’s in Chicago. Mild smoke flavor and light malts and bitterness. Went well with brats but a light, mellow Alt beer.

Bottle. Brown color with a big baige head. Weak roasted malty aroma and a light sweet malty bitter dry taste. Light body and a light bitter dry finish.

In the 0.5L bottle in Mannheim. The waitress did not want me to order a bottle of this. She worried that I would not like it.While I must say that the Hannen Alt tasted much better, this was not a terrible beer. Dark amber to light brown in color, cloudy in appearance. This had the requisite Alt malty aroma and sour flavor. This was pretty light in the body department, so less enjoyable for me.

Mildly grainy, strong malt aroma. Clear burnished copper with a finger of off-white head that recedes to cover with light lace. Fairly bitter with a biscuity malt flavour to offset. Very short flavour profile. Dry finish. Light, lingering bitterness. Decent carbonation provides interest for the tongue, medium-light body. Bottle.
