bierkoning (4935), La Tropica, Netherlands Apr 19, 2007 Bottle in an ancient 75 cl swing top bottle, this beer from one if the very few relics left of ancient Wallon brewing. Golden color. Yeasty, vegetable and musty aroma. Dusty, slightly grassy and musty flavor with melon. Hints of caramel. Dirty mouthfeel. Too bad. I wanted to rate this beer higher but I simply couldn’t. Maybe it doesn’t travel well. fonefan (4884), Ulfborg, Denmark Dec 20, 2006 Bottle @ Kerstbierfestival 2006 in Essen, BE. Light amber color witn no head. Aroma of malt, hops and apple (honey ?). Flavor is sweet like cider / honey, with a short finish. Freesh but special taste. thebeertourist (1896), Oslo, Norway Dec 17, 2006 Bottle at Kerstbierfestival, Essen. Clear. Red copper, no head to speak of. Malty aroma. Fruity flavours, some apple, quite refreshing, though on the sweet and spicy side. omhper (10730), Stockholm, Sweden Nov 26, 2006 Bottled (as Gigi La 1900 Spéciale). Clear pale amber, less head than on a glass of Coca Cola. Aroma of butterscotch and honey. Sweet with clean, hard mouthfeel. Interesting dicrete notes of tobacco, peach and roasty malt. No bitterness. Very unual with it’s complete lack of head and hard mouthfeel, but only halfway succesful. rauchbier (2874), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Feb 20, 2005 Bottled, at Essen Kerstbierfestival 2004. Amber, thin white head and moderate condition. Low caramel and gentle hoppiness in the nose, Soft sweet and understated in the mouth with touches of honey, a slight fruitiness and some grain. Low sweet honey notes in the finish.
