The aroma is sharp and spicy with some herbal notes as well as some malty ones too. The aroma is a good marriage between malt, hops, and yeast aromatics. My first impression of the taste is that this definitely hits the spot. It is light and flavorful, perfect for a hot summer evening. This has some nice sharp spicy notes that hit the front of my tongue; these are a nice balance to the malty sweetness that is also found in this beer. The malty sweetness has a depth of flavor, which really contributes to the overall character of this beer. I get flavor notes that are spicy, herbal, sweet and a certain caramel maltiness. While I would be hesitant to call this a stellar beer, the integrated flavors really meld very well together. This is certainly a well crafted beer, and one which I highly recommend. Very fruity, malty taste, with some caramel, earthy and bready. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA

Nose mildly funky and grassy, noticeable yeasts. Very bready and yeasts, has a rich, buttery character to it. Yeasty and a bit spicy, a bit like a tripel with some barnyard in it. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 2, 2004 Honey-butter, pepper (light), big head diminishing, golden-copper color, very deep and translucent. Taste: supper nutty! Peanuts...cashews, aftertaste of hops. Slight butter flavor, slight crystallized sweetness. Something indescribable that is a great pleasure. Oakes says something about this beer being a lesson in malt extraction....ooh I would have to agree. Layers upon layers. This is sublime. Where can I get more? Upon sniffing my thought was of baby spring greens and salad vegetables. Mouthfeel was medium, velvety, good carbonation. Flavor was earthy, herbal, some spice. Interesting beer. duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England

Finishes off very farmy, savoury and herbal. Hay, dirt, horseblanket, earthy hops. Slight smoky edge. Orange rind and spicey hops to finish, savoury, this is a really good beer.
