elihapa (305), Connecticut, USA Jun 21, 2008 Biere du Bouranier Red Ale 6/20/08 (bottle. Pours a muddy apricot with small white head. Aroma of ripe fruit, especially peaches and oranges, malt, and sweet spices. Flavor that hits you first is an INTENSE peach/citrus. I did not expect this, and the result was unpleasant. Upon second try, I noticed that the peach fruit is actually decently balanced with hops and yeast to produce a more rounded beer than I first noted. Nevertheless, the flavor is still dominated by notes of ripe/overripe peach. Finish is fairly long, with sweet lingering afternotes. I don’t want to rag this beer, for it has its strengths (the alcohol is well-hidden, for one), but it just wasn’t what I was looking for.
Angeloregon (1969), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 1, 2008 From Bottleworks in Seattle--Golden-amber bodied with a small frothy white head. Sticky candied nose. Floral mildly cloying chewy malt flavor. Enjoyable but a bit on the sweet side. Nice hops presence but dominated by candy sugar. Butters (421), Temporarily in Nashville, Tennessee, USA Sep 20, 2008 Pours a hazy orange gold with some clarity and fair off-white head. Aroma reminds me of sweet yogurt and faint banana. Flavor is citric fruity and a little funky. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Aftertaste is a bit yeasty. coolguywalt (1), Parker, Colorado, USA does not count Sep 20, 2008 This beer pours a hazy tan with a thin off-white head. Aroma has slight sourness to it, as goes with the style. Flavor is slightly sweet, transitioning to a low-moderate sourness that is not too overwhelming. Medium body with lingering sourness. Overall, a good Flanders Ale with not too much sourness. Soonah (516), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Sep 19, 2008 Poured a slightly darker than average gold color with some effervescence and a short white head that produced good lacing. The aroma was Belgian yeast, caramel and tobacco. The flavor was caramel, pepper and Belgian yeast. Very dry mouthfeel with a long finish. thewolf (3956), Kolding, Denmark Sep 10, 2008 Bottle, bought @ Fish and Beer, Cph.
