Commercial Description:
energetic and full-bodied taste with sweetish pronounced tone, brown copper color and with a creamy foam of beige tonality, bouquet harmonious and elegant. Category "Belgian Strong Dark Ale", style "brown ale", this beer is produced with the method of the triple fermentation, means that it has three doses of malt more than the quantity used for other beers, added in three different phases of workmanship, like the last phase where the malt is directly put in the bottle or the keg.

Pours dark brown with a decent off-white head. Slightly sugary aroma. The taste is prunes, cotton candy, malt, and a bit of soap. Interesting but really not award winning.

pretty damned good, poured a nice, but not quite clear brown color a bubble tan head, which had minor lacing. Aroma was sweet with dry fruit notes and some caramel, a little bit of alcohol and hops. Flavor was really sweet, raisins seemed to stick out the most, and almost oak like quality was also present. Finish was warm. medium bodied. .

Bottle. Dark amber/brown colour with a large tan head. Sweet fruity aroma, some plums & some caramel. Taste is like a weaker version of St. Bernardus 12.

Coloração escura, avermelhada, turva. Creme maravilhoso, denso e persistente. Há algo cítrico no sabor. O álcool é perceptível. Final seco e amargo. Cerveja forte e encorpada, mas não chega a ser complexa. Carbonatação média/alta.

Van steenberge seem to be able to really meld these big beers into luxurious, and approchable pieces of art, while not as crisp and mind bendinly beautiful as the blonde version, this beer is sweet yet savoury at the same time.
