Smell: Sourish, fruity aroma smelling of a blend of cherries and raisins, brown sugar, booze, and dusty, dry cocoa powder.
Taste: Sugary sweet raisins and cherries with occasional pops of sourness. Slight dry, nutty malts. Tiny hint of unsweetened cocoa powder. Fairly low bitterness. Peppery alcohol character. Drying, semi-sweet finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation.
Drinkability: Fine and drinkable, sure, but I just couldn’t get too into it. I guess a pirate’s life is NOT for me. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 10, 2008 Bottle: This pirate wanted to jump of the glass upon pouring. Large, fully-lacing head atop a hazy dark copper ruby body. Aroma of sweet caramely malt and bready Belgian yeast with some brown sugar and light candy fruitiness. Body starts lightly sweet and caramely malty quickly drying out toward a fizzy semi-sweet and tart finish. Seems over-attenuated and dull. unclemattie (2431), Georgia, USA
