Popping the cap released a startling amount of pressure, so I knew this would be super carbonated. On pouring, it produced a mahogany liquid with an enormous beige head that took several minutes to descend to a reasonable level. The aroma is very phenolic, with some raisin notes and acidic tartness as well. The flavor is raisiny with a hint of acidic sourness. Then comes a range of spicy and floral notes that seem like they’re coming from higher alcohols. The finish is a little bit woody and sweet. The beer is ok, but seems kind of sloppy. A lot of things are going on, but without much harmony. AmEricanbrew (1838), Washington DC, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 3, 2008 Murky brown color with a frothy tan head that sticks around. Nice cotton candy bready sweet butter smell. Fairly light bodied. Decent taste is semi sweet sugary alcoholic figs, plums with a musty cellar essence. Not too bad. 5187 Suttree (2732), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Pours a deep, dark brown with a decent head and good lacing. Aroma isn’t too strong and is a bit difficult to place. The flavour is somewhat smoky upfront with a strong malt aftertaste. Unfortunately for this review, that’s not really my thing. No yeastiness in this one. shackinetics (132), Florida, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | Feb 2, 2008 pours a dark auburn brown with atrocious amounts of bubbly light beige head. Takes about 10 minutes to cram this beer into a 16 ounce glass. If there’s much aroma through all that head it’s sweet and malty with some vinegar qualities. Tastes similar , over all very sweet, but vinegary. Has decent body, yet a very spritzy, carbonated (wine) mouth feel. At least it delivers some respectable alcohol. not a big fan of this one overall. I guess just need more exposure to belgian ales. Anyhow, Go Bucs SHIG (2037), Aviano, Italy
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 31, 2008 Bottle: Poures a deep dark brown with a fast acting beige head sounds of carbonation explains this. Aroma is sour to the nose. The taste is old with a tingle of carbonation. I have a hard time putting my finger on a particular flavor as with most. Malts, alcohol, metal is my best senses.
