| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 11, 2005 Poured into an Aventinus glass(the only clean classy glass available), it looks beautiful, a glowing orange color, significantly hazed, lighter at the bottom, capped with a lean layer of white foam.
Aroma has all the usual hallmarks of a saison or a biere de garde, yeasty, sour, a bit of funk, plentiful fruit, but this one is topped by pleasing, mellowing honey tones. Nice, again.
That honey flavor is much more pronounced in the taste, heck, it’s fairly tangible, slick and supple on the palate, and only growing bigger.
Medium bodied, with honey and lemon on the ever-so pleasant finish.
Perhaps the most honeyish of any honey beers I’ve tried, beating the previous champ, Dupont’s Biere du Miel.
I like it.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 27, 2005 Soft carbonation floats amid a straw-coloured body to a dense bleached head. Yeasty aroma of dust and mould, with a hint of volatile honey. Flavour is yeasty, dry and sweetish with honey playing foil to the typical yeast/alcohol/pale malt dynamic of many Belgians of similar strength and pallor. The flavours are hardly seemless, though, as the honey seems like it’s from another beer entirely. By the finish, thankfully, it begins to round the edges off the yeast and alcohol. Definitely not as good as its predecessor Le Pave de l’Ours, but it’s not bad. sayravai (3733), Helsinki, Finland
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 25, 2005 (Bottled, BBE 08/2005) Hazy yellow-orange color with medium, firm and tight head. Sweet honey aroma with some alcohol, much like in some strong baltic lagers - except this one has some yeastiness, too. The honey is quite well blended with the sweet, fruity, slightly alcoholic and spicy aroma - but this is definitely not a very complex brew. Quite smooth, slightly foamy-carbonated mouthfeel. Medium-bodied and sticky-sugary. A quite enjoyable, decently balanced and strong honey brew. The alcohol is clearly present, but it suits the honey beer style well.
