Commercial Description:
Available with two labels - Blonde in Wallonia and Fakir in Flanders and Canada. Though it is also relabelled as La Molagnarde Blonde. This is a particularly good blonde beer with lots of strong, clean citric hop character throughout. The orange peel that is included amongst the ingredients tends to only come through in the nose. We find this beer is great when served straight from the fridge as a little of the freshness is lost as it warms up.

Draft at Zeno’s in State College. Slightly cloudy amber orange colored body. Nose is sweet candy sugar, cloves, nuts, bubble gum, anise and coriander. Flavor sis very sweet at first, with some cloying Belgian candy sugar, ginger, honey and spiced cracker flavors. Some thyme and basil as well, with a heavy dose of coriander. Sweetness is far too high. Texture is silky, though, so it scores points in that respect, but there’s too much left unfermented.

Bottle (from Bitter Virtue, BB Apr 07). Nice fruity nose with hints of orange, kumquat and apricot. These flavours fade slightly in the mouth leaving malty marmalade and a light hop finish. Pretty good, not exceptionaly flavoured and could do with a touch more of a hop finish, but nicely easy going.

Bottled. Hazy golden color, with large floating flocks of yeast in the bottle. Creamy head. Sweet and tart aroma with notes of strawberry, raspberry and musty cellar. Quite carbonated. Essance-like raspberry flavor with rose, old hops and musty cellar. Best before date of this beer is a few months ahead but this tastes very old and musty. The nice fuitiness and hop chararater which I have tasted in this beer few years ago is now totally absent.

Bottled: Light yellow coloured. Unclear. Off white small head. ARoma is sweet and yeasty. Quite bland. Flavour of lemonade, yeast, some fruits and sweetness. Vague spice notes. Is a bit light bodied and somewhat watery. Ends on a fruity note.

(33cl bottle) Purchased at the BC Liquor Store on Cambie in Vancouver for $2.95. Pours a large, fomay almond-coloured head with a cloudy amber body. Nose of lemon, horseblanket, bandaid and tin. Flavours of orange zest, lemon juice and mild malt. Very Good.

Bottled. Slightly hazy, well-carbonating golden brew with a dense, creamy off-white head, leaving nice lacings. Black-currant, citrus, banana, yeast, dried fruits and candi in the aroma. Quite hoppy flavor, with lemon, orange-peel and candi. Fizzy mouthfeel. Long hoppy finish, with citrus as well. Nice! (060626)

Pours a hazy bright yellow into a trappist glass. Consistent bright white micro head. Earth and lemon citrus notes. Upfront orange citrus with a dry, clean abrupt (slightly metallic) orange rind finish.

Hazy blonde ale, veering on gold, with a thick creamy milky white head. Pleasant citrus hops, with notes of orange peel, perfume, and light gum. In mouth, lighter bodied than aroma lets guess, with a light sweet malt, creamy mouthfeel, fresh and smooth bubble gum. Very quaffable belgian ale, veering to wit. From JM in BC, BB 09/05. Merci mon ami!
