Commercial Description:
This beer looks like it means business right from the start. It is dark red brown with a good fluffy head and has a rich spicy malt nose with a few bitter orange notes. The palate has a big hoppy bite and a rich, fruity, dark coffee character, which tries to become roasted in the finish.

Pours dark brown w/ a full spritzy froth. Aroma is fresh w/ spice and dusty granite. Medium to full nectar w/ ample residul effers. Creamy on the mouth feel. Flavors are strong w/ coffee, molasses, oak, brownies, tobacco. sligtly fruity w/ dried stone fruit. Finish is long and has a nice bittering. Well balanced. Alcohol is well hidden. Overall: This brew rocks. Very complex. This one gets my Connoisseurs Choice rating. Highly recommended. If you like the flavor profile of brown ales, you’ll love this brew.

Dark and clear, with a thin head. Very fruity aroma, with a bit of yeast. The body is medium full, with a stron g raisen and plum flavor. The finish is clean, with no hint of the alcohol.

Cloudy nut brown with a big tan head. Initially it’s all yeast in the nose, but fruit becomes increasingly evident too-- berries and apples-- along with something sweetly spicy. It’s hard to pin this one down. The palate is the same way-- lots of pleasant flavours wrapped up in a yeasty sweet blanket. Interesting and good!

Bottled. Reddish brown, slightly hazy, with a beige head. Disappointing aroma and flavor of citrus and dish-washing soap, but definately bad, just one-dimentional and disappointing. Some sweetness too in the flavor. Medium body and a mostly citrus-like finish. Guess I expected something else from this one. (060704)

(33cl bottle) Purchased at the BC Liquor Store on Cambie in Vancouver for $2.95. Pours a large, shaving cream almond-coloured head with a deep brown body. Nose of figs, burnt caramel and cold spent coffee. Flavours of English candies, citrus fruit and very slight mint. Above average herbal beer.

Dark brown ale with an extra thick creamy light moka head. Very nice smooth pruney malt aroma, oranges, licorice, and coffee. In mouth, a sweet candy or demarara sugar, with light hops, a bit of maderized malt, cold coffee, a bit lighter than expected, but very good. BB 17-11-05. Bottle from JM in BC. Merci JM!
